Men's Basketball Cracks Top-10 In Associated Press Poll

Omaha, Neb. -- The Creighton men's basketball program is ranked 10th in the Associated Press poll, its first top-10 ranking in school history. The Bluejays moved up three spots after posting home wins over Evansville and Southern Illinois last week.

Creighton passed upset victims Connecticut, Alabama, Notre Dame, Illinois and Missouri in this week's poll. Kentucky and Louisville both leap-frogged over the Jays in the polls. Kentucky made a surge from 16th to eighth, while Louisville moved from 15th to ninth.

"It's a nice honor for our players and fans but hopefully we can keep improving," said Creighton head coach Dana Altman. "The season is only halfway completed and while we appreciate the recognition, we need to keep getting better every time we take the floor."

The ESPN/USA Today coaches poll will be released at 5 p.m. today.

Creighton returns to action tonight when they host Illinois State in a 7:05 p.m. contest at the Omaha Civic Auditorium.
