according to the article at ESPN.com if i am reading it correctly, the NFL is taking the week off without pay. Now assuming that these games are NOT made up, what do y'all think would be the chances of petitioning the NFL to give the money from those games to the cleanup and relief effort? How even might one go about doing such a thing?

any thoughts?

I think that's a fantastic idea Shawn!
First we could contact ESPN to find out how to go about contacting the NFL. If you want, I can try to do that this weekend. Then we just get everybody we know to sign a petition and forward it to the NFL's commissioner.
I think we could make this happen if we really tried!

I also fired off emails today to Ron Cook, and bob smizik who write for the PPG... and another to thor tolo who has a talk show for KDKA... hopefully we hear something soon.

the way i understood it, they rn't canceling the game, they r gonna make it up by only having 2 wild cards so it'll shorten the postseason

all indications right now are that they won't decide until sometime tuesday for sure. There are so many different things that will be affected by doing it like that, so who reallly knows... but just in case, i am going to try and get this together just the same.

i received a message back from Bob Smizik this morning. Bob is of the 3 guys i emailed my least favorite and probably the most cynical of the bunch. He seems to think it is a good idea. He told me the way that he always gets in touch is either through the U.S. Postal service or else through the telephone. However, he didn't provide me with any address or phone number. Hopefully i hear back from ron and thor before monday morning.
