I had posted that some of my friends worked in Twin towers and in the surrounding area. If any of you are interested in their stories or want to post your own, please do so. This isn't for the faint of heart. The stories are out of a war zone....

One friend, A, worked in the first tower that got hit somewhere close to the bottom third of the tower. She got out and as she ran for safety she was pelted by body parts. Everywhere she looked she saw feet and hands. At some point she fainted and later woke in a hospital. The next day (Wednesday) she was taken to Jersey City where her brother lives. He took her to their mom's house. Up until she called her brother in Jersey City, they hadn't heard for her. They tried getting into the city but weren't allowed in. Everytime she closes her eyes she sees the images and everytime she falls asleep she wakes up screaming. She has no memory of how she got to the hospital and whether or not she was able to thank the good samaritan that got her there. I talked with her mom this morning. She's in no condition to talk. Her fiance worked in the top few floors of that tower and she can't face the fact that the chances of his survival are zilch.

Another friend, B, worked in the second tower that got hit. When the first tower got hit they managed to get out. When they turned around to survey the first tower she saw the tower she worked in get sliced by the second plane. Right where she worked! They started running. She told me that she just tried not to look at the body parts and kept running. She walked about 10 miles to get home. She said all around her people were dazed, fainting, throwing up, but that everyone was helping each other. In the midst of that evil, there was a lot of love.

Another friend, C, worked for the SEC across the street. Had she taken the bus at the right time she wouldn't be alive today. She told me how much she cursed the bus driver for not waiting for a second. But that man inadvertently saved her life and now he's dead. When she got to work, she was crouching behind a car with another woman. She later saw that woman with her head cut open. Her three sisters and mom all worked in that area and thank God all five of them are alive.

Im glad your friends are alive and what you have to do now is provide comfort and try to support them anyway you can, very happy to hear they are alive and hope they can get through this difficult time with everyones love and care.
Ive been affected by this as well and right now i have 2 cousins missing who have not been found yet i went down to the New York Armory with my aunt and its just hard to put in words how i feel right now, standing there waiting to give information about my cousins looking at people crying ,holding pictures of their family members and friends ,its very painful to actually have to go through all this shit , the good thing is that the people are very comforting and everyone is just very helpful ,so like we've been told many times over all we can do now is pray and keep hope that survivors are found ............and thats about it thanx for the time i pray you all have your loved ones with you and hopefully if they are missing you will have hope that they can be found

OMG purva! thank God your friends are alive!!! i hope and pray your first friend finds her fiance.... that is just heartbreaking to have to wait and not know anything.....:crying2:

the bodyparts...... yes, that's what the survivors keep talking about, the bodyparts..... my sister said they don't really get that graphic on tv (which is probably good)....but she is HAUNTED by the SMELL and the blood on the street and ALL THOSE FEET..... she keeps saying "but the feet.... the feet....all those feet.... and the blood....." .....at one point, when she was running and getting thrown from one of the explosions, somebody yelled "OH MY GOD IT'S A TORSO!!!!" and she saw people looking, but she remembers saying to herself "I'm not looking, I'm not looking, just run...." .....she also said she remembers now that the guy who practically saved her life and pulled her out from under the van had said something about a fireball almost hitting it.... there were all these fireballs she said and cars going up in flames...... if the guy had not yanked her out from under the van, she could have been burnt alive or exploded with the van......

Rei is having waking nightmares, she can't sleep and she'll be fine one moment and then she cries at any little thing and for no reason.... and every time she hears a plane or a loud sound, she starts shaking and looks up and around the room like it's going to explode......

she doesn't want to go back to work...... she says she's even afraid to get on the subway cuz it reminds her of going to work and she wants to quit now.... i think she might..... she was on the phone with her boss yesterday and the boss told her that one of the senior execs just resigned..... i think alot of people will do that and i do not blame them......

Purva, i am so glad your friends are alive and well..... i hope they know there are many people out there who support them and can help them get through this.... it is soooo important to reach out and talk to others about it and know you are not alone.....

HECTOR! first, i want to say it is sooo good to see you (we were wondering where you were all this time, we missed you!!!).....i'm sorry that we had to see you again under these horrible circumstances:ohno: .....i am sooo sorry about your 2 cousins and i pray they will find them..... please do not lose hope and know that we are all praying for you and if you need to talk, we are here and we will do whatever it takes to help you get through this...... i'm so so sorry......:crying2: :crying2:

Purva,

I'm glad that your friends are okay. Emotionally I can't even fathom what they must be going through and they will need your love and support.

So many lives have been affected from this tragedy and I pray that we will all find peace again :frownsqua

Cyn,

Your poor sister what a traumatic experience! I'm glad she has you for support. I can't imagine people that were down there and running for their lives how they can go back to work. I can understand your sister not wanting to go back cause I don't want to go back and I was in midtown! When I heard the thunder and lightening in the middle of the night and saw the sky light up (I have a skylight over my bed) I was terrified!

My prayers and sorrow to all of you guys and I'm so sorry Hector about your cousins. I still have hope that people will be found alive and I will not give up that belief no matter how slim the chances are!

I had all intentions to go into work today but I took one of my vacation days instead.

I know that Monday I have to go back to work but am not looking forward to it.

My sister and brother know 2 people that are amongst the missing and God help us all find peace.

Although I don't know anyone personally on the planes or in the buildings I am still so devastated by this :frownsqua like every other American!

Purva, my heart aches for your friends. They are alive, but this will live with them forever.

Hector, thoughts and prayers for you in the hope that your cousins can be found.

May we hold each other close and continue to help each other get through.

Love and Peace.

I found out last night that someone I knew for 4 years at a former job is among those missing, presumed dead. We weren't close, but he was someone I liked and respected. He will be missed.

Cantor Fitzgerald lost virtually every single one of the employees who were supposed to be at work that day, including the CEO's brother Gary. The CEO himself, Howard Lutnick, was late because he took his son to kindergarten for his first day. The Lutnicks and I go way back (let's put it this way -- I know him as "Howie"). We are not friends now, but their father and my father were roommates at Columbia. Howard and I went to college together. His parents both died of cancer when he was in high school, and now he and his sister are alone. Their brother is among the dead.

Barbara Olson, the wife of the US Solicitor General died in the plane that hit the Pentagon. I knew her slightly, having met her at several social functions over the past few years. She was a neat lady, and everyone who knew her is better for it.

May God rest their souls.
