Anyone else read today's Free Press? In it, Tigers' beat writer Gene Guidi has an article on Brandon Inge. For the most part, it is rather un-newsworthy. However, the last few quotes were very interesting to me.

"Too many guys didn't care if we won or lost. They'd come into the clubhouse after we'd just got killed and they'd be laughing and joking 15 mintues later."

"That caused a lot of problems and a clash in the clubhouse between the guys that cared and the guys that didn't care."

"Without naming names, I can tell you we did a good job in the off-season of narrowing down the guys that didn't care."

Now, I may be wrong, but that's some pretty harsh criticism of your former teammates. It also doesn't take an astute observer to check the transaction list to see which players have left since October 1. Fick, Acevedo, Redman, Jackson, Rivera, Magee and Simon all come to mind without checking the outgoing list.

For all those who lament the departure of the Tigers' lone all-star, leading hitter, save leader and best pitcher, I am left with the impression that some of those guys won't be missed by their ex-teammates.

It also tells me that a few of the guys that don't care, in Inge's opinion, are still here.

As a side note, I see in yesterday's paper that Shane Halter has changed his tune. The guy who complained about playing time last year, has apparently told his new manager he will play wherever and whenever he is called on. What a difference in attitude.

(I really want to hammer Halter on this, but I know he was close to the late Durwood Merrill, so he gets a pass on this one.)

Halter, in my opinion, hopped on the disrespect bandwagon last year. I mean, how does a career utility man such as himself demand to go elsewhere? Like he'd play anywhere else.

What a turd.

I heard him say that on the radio a few weeks back, and he's absolutly right on. The Tigers had way too many bad seeds, which in part, was do too the fact is was a bunch of "kids" with really no veteran players, or coaches.

Is Halter still on the team? I havn't heard much from him, but i thought he should of been dumped awile ago.

Yep, he is still here. This is the last year of his contract with the Tigers, though.

Then he'll surely be the starting shortstop for a World Series favorite. Just ask him.
