Question: Which guard would you pick to distribute the ball to a dream lineup of Kareem, Mailman, MJ and Wilt, who all have more than 31,000 career points?
Choices:
Magic Johnson
Jason Kidd
John Stockton
Isiah Thomas
Oscar Robertson
Jerry West
Mark Jackson
Other
...how can anyone NOT pick John Stockton? Stock, Kidd, and Jackson IMO are the only PGs on that list who look to pass first. On a team of scorers, your PG cannot hog the ball. And of those three, Stock is and has been the best at getting people the ball in places where they can score. How Magic gotten 52% of the votes is beyond me :umm :notme:

magic johnson in his prime (which was most of his career. lol) was by far the most prolific passer in the league. better than stockton. Magic could pass from anywhere on the court and made it look easy.
he was a true virtuoso.
not to be mean, but you cannot truly appreciate magic if you didnt see him play a lot. and he was done by time you were outta diapers. You had to see him to believe him. ;)
even though i am a jazz fan i still picked jerry west

true, i was four or so when he retired :D :(. Perhaps i am too biased towards Stockton, but i can't understand how the difference of votes between Magic and Stock could be so big (50% to 14% or something like that). Stock IMO (of course, i see through rose colored glasses) is the greatest pure PG ever. He's your ideal PG for a team of superstars. He's the smartest player i've ever seen, he has amazing control over games, and he always gets the ball to people where they like to shoot it. And he's a pass-first-shoot-later kind of guy. Ideal fit IMO.

yah, he is all of that milky and i will grant you that, but i would still have Magic over all. I would probably put stockton third right behind West.

i always thought of West as a shooting guard :umm.
my list would be: Stockton, Magic, Robertson, Zeke, and Kidd. I don't consider West a point guard, and Jackson doesn't deserve to be mentioned with those greats :evillol

I always thought of West as a two guard, as well.
As for the primary debate, I'll take Magic over everyone else listed. It's too bad you missed his career, M_W. You missed a special player in a unique era.
