Devil Rays Reach Deal With Reichert
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- The Tampa Bay Devil Rays avoided salary arbitration with right-hander Dan Reichert by agreeing to a $510,000, one-year contract.
Reichert can earn an additional $30,000 in performance bonuses based on points for starts and appearances.
Reichert, 26, was claimed off waivers from the Kansas City Royals last September, but did not make any appearances for the Devil Rays. He was 3-5 with a 5.32 ERA in 30 games and six starts for the Royals last season.
Reichert started last season as the Royals' No. 2 starter, but he was optioned to Triple-A Omaha in mid-July.
After making $310,000 last year, he had asked for a raise to $600,000. Tampa Bay had offered $450,000.
