LONDON, Jan. 27 — English actor Jude Law topped a poll of British film fans Monday to find the next incarnation of suave secret agent James Bond. The 30-year-old star took more than a quarter of the votes in the Total Film magazine survey, finishing just ahead of Scottish “Star Wars” actor Ewan McGregor.

TOTAL FILM EDITOR Matt Mueller said, “I think Jude Law has that upper-class, debonair sophistication about him that people associate with James Bond, more so than Ewan McGregor and Christian Bale who came close.”He said McGregor’s close second place was interesting. “He is Scottish, as of course was Sean Connery, the first ever Bond.”Current 007 actor Pierce Brosnan has committed himself to a fifth outing as Bond but has said he may be too old for a sixth.“It takes stamina to play this role. I would like to get off the stage with grace,” he told a news conference last year. Hugh Grant, famous for playing a foppish Englishman in “Four Weddings and a Funeral,” took just 2 percent of the votes.

Despite my "compatriot" Sean Connery(currently residing in Bermuda) being the first, Roger Moore was the best. Just as suave and sophisticated as they come. I thought Timothy Dalton was underrated, as he did have a lot to live up to, and Brosnan is excellent. Not too sure about Jude Law. Brilliant with Ed Harris in Enemy at the Gates though.

Well, technically George Lazenby was the first 007 ... But I agree with the Sean Connery swoonin' that we see in this thread ... This is definitely one case where cloning should be allowed ... Nobody will ever be better than Connery.

Connery was the original when he dome the first Bond movie, Dr. No in 1963. He quit the role after You Only Live Twice(1967), when George Lazenby replaced him for one movie, and quit. Connery came back for Diamonds are Forever before making way for Roger Moore, but did feature, albeit unofficially, in Never Say Never Again.

Thats right PopTop, what you've long suspected is true. I know far too much about James Bond.
