Ok...., this is my first year running a roto league setup at Yahoo. I've done them before but haven't run them so I'd like a little feedback on the setup for my league please.

Here it is: It's a 12 team 6 X 6 head to head league on Yahoo. The categories are hitting: batting average, on base + slugging percentage, HRs, RBIs, SBs, and fielding percentage.

pitching categories are: ERA, WHIP, Wins, Saves, Strikeouts, Holds

The lineup is:
2 catchers
1 1B
1 2B
1 3B
1 SS
3 OF
1 UT
3 SP
3 RP
2 P

7 bench spots and 3 DL spots making a 25 man roster

It's a mixed league setup. Teams must pitch at least 10 innings a week to qualify.

Any thoughts, good or bad, about the setup would be appreciated. This is a league that I do with my co-workers and we want it to be fun and competitive so if anyone sees any weaknesses please point them out.

Thanks.

I am not sure what the experience level is of your owners but if they are rookies to playing fantasy baseball a good rule of thumb is to practive K.I.S.S (Keep It Simple Stupid.)

Traditionally, fantasy leagues use 5X5 scoring which is not only friendly to newcomers but also easier to keep track of a player's game stats every day using the boxscore.

Also, you may want to consider using one catching position due to the lack of depth and production at the position and decreasing the RP active roster for the same reason.

You didn't mention if it will be a daily or weekly lineup. Both have their upsides and downfalls but if you know everyone in your league personally either will work.

Hope that helps if not feel free to contact me at iplsports@yahoo.com

Thanks John,

Small world. I took over one of your IPL dynasty teams. IPL 9 Kentucky Wildcats. Thanks for the advice. The categories were chosen by the people in the league. This is our 3rd year together, although some of them are new this year. Your thoughts on the catcher are good. I'll have to take that to the league and see what they want to do. The lineups are on Yahoo so I think we can do daily lineup changes. Since some people in the league aren't as into as others I would try to make it a weekly lineup change if possible. This league is more for our league to hang out and have fun and some people won't stick around if it gets too involved. Thanks for the info John.
