Angels Will Give Away Rally Monkey Bobble Belly
ANAHEIM, Calif. -- The Anaheim Angels are turning their smallest MVP into a souvenir. The Rally Monkey Bobble Belly will put the team's Most Valuable Primate into the hands of fans.
Besides his usual scoreboard appearances, the team's furry morale booster is being turned into a plastic bobble toy that will be given free to fans during the season.
The bobble belly is still being designed, but will have a springy torso, unlike typical bobble head dolls that only bounce from the neck up. It will be given away to kids 14 years and younger at the Angels' home game on Aug. 17.
Three plush dolls with special bright red fur will commemorate last year's World Series championship season.
The dolls will be given away April 19 in honor of Troy Glaus's 2002 World Series MVP award, April 26 to recognize Adam Kennedy's ALCS MVP award and July 12 to honor Mike Scioscia being picked as the AL manager of the year.
The monkey dolls will wear team jerseys with the name of the honored players on the back.
