.c The Associated Press
PHOENIX (Jan. 30) -- The Arizona Diamondbacks added another reliever to their spring training roster on Thursday by agreeing to a minor league contract with right-hander Ricky Bottalico.
Bottalico, 33, was 0-3 with a 4.61 ERA in 30 appearances for the Philadelphia Phillies last season before undergoing season-ending shoulder surgery June 28.
The signing came one day after the Diamondbacks agreed to minor-league contracts with left-hander Rick Villone and right-hander Mike Jackson.
All three relievers agreed to contracts that would pay them $500,000 if they make the major league roster. Bottalico can earn an additional $100,000 in performance bonuses.
Bottalico has a 27-38 record with a 4.00 ERA in 460 big league appearances with Philadelphia, St. Louis and Kansas City. He has 114 saves, including a career-best 34 with the Phillies in 1996 and 1997. He was selected to the 1996 NL All-Star team.
