Royals Agree to Deal With M. Kelly
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Outfielder Mike Kelly, who hasn't played in the major leagues since 1999, agreed to a minor league contract with the Kansas City Royals.
Kelly, 32, has played with Atlanta, Cincinnati, Tampa Bay and Colorado, compiling a .241 career average with 22 homers and 86 RBI in 327 games.
His best season was 1997, when he hit .293 in 73 games with the Reds. He played in a career high 106 games the next season with Tampa Bay, hitting .240 and set career bests with 10 homers, 13 steals, 39 runs and 33 RBI.
