If you have time to do a new one Rockie or PirateNut I could use a Texas Rangers avatar. I have a couple of new pictures I might want to use. But they are too large for me to post here is what the message is saying. But if you guys find any that are good I would use those also. How would I get the 2 I have to you?

We always have time for Texas fans! The easiest way would just be to email the pics to me, and kind of describe what you'd like (how you want them cropped, etc.). Also, if you want a Texas logo, which style you want.

RockieBill I have attempted to mail you the pictures. I am at work and we will see if they let the mail go through or not. We shall see. Again thanks for the help.

This is about as much damage as I can do, Joe. I really like that one picture with the nice background, but it loses a lot when crushed down to avatar size. I just threw in the pic of A-Rod - no problem to take it out or put a different pic in, just let me know.
RB
btw - if you would like a copy of that pic in a format that doesn't take up so much disk space, I can re-format it for you...just holler.

You're always welcome!
I was just goofing around with that one pic - if you try this (attachment) as a tiled background on your 'puter, you might like it. Depending on your screen resolution, I can make it fit better if you decide to use it.

Hi P-Nut! I know absolutely nothing about Macs - but I may be able to find out for sure in a bit. I'll post back.
Understandable about your young'un on your desktop, and as it should be, Joe! Maybe you could slip the Ranger's logo on someone else's machine where you could grab a glance from time to time? ;)

Paul - I thought I might know an Apple fan, but that's not the case. I did fire up QuickTime, which is an Apple program, and it supports .bmp files. I don't know how that translates to Mac desktops, though.
Now I'm curious. Do you use a Mac?

No I don't Bill but I do remember Addicts not supporting .bmp's as avatars in Netscape and I was thinking .bmp's were windows based technology.
My brain was just wondering.

Ahhh, that explains something then. The reason I posted that as a .bmp is that on a Windows desktop, a .jpg or .gif won't work (correctly) if the 'active desktop' feature is used. That would explain why my background disappears when toggling between whether or not to 'view desktop as a web page'... I must investigate...thanks, Paul.

Hmmm, interesting.......are the images using (jpg's or gif's) the exact dimensions of the resolution you are using i.e. 600 x 800 pixels? Or, for that matter smaller but equally divisible in size or scale of the resolution?

I was just doing some playing around with this. I don't think that image diminsions matter, just image type.
I tried several different types, and .bmp files are the only ones that work whether or not the desktop is viewed as an active web page (right-click on the desktop --> Active Desktop --> View As Web Page, for anyone else trying to follow this). When you mentioned that .bmp's are Windows based, that made this make sense. I didn't realize that, as I hardly ever use .bmp's. I just knew that on desktops, they seem to work better - on this 'puter, anyway.
