Like I needed any more reason to root for Notre Dame. Notre Dame, at least until the end of Matt Carroll's eligibility, is my second favorite college basketball team. I am good friends with someone whose sister dated Carroll.

I have a buddy who went to HS with Matt Carroll. He said he was pretty much an asshole in HS most of the time. But hey, he is a pretty good ball player. Pitt will win by 12.

I've heard just the opposite. Alina (that's her name) was only a few years old when her sister dated Carroll (I believe he was in eighth grade at the time ... not entirely sure), and she said every time Carroll would visit her house he would read Green Eggs and Ham to her. Obviously, different perceptions.
I don't think Pitt will win by double digits. I think ND is too good of a team, and Pitt too bad of a free throw shooting team, for Pitt to win by 12 points. I think it'll be closer to five points than twelve.

Josh, I would imagine there could have been a difference between Carroll at 14 years old and when he became the stud athlete who had gotten accepted to ND by the time he was in HS.
Anyhow, Pitt has been shooting a lot better from the free throw line the past couple of games. Not to mention the fact that Pitt already holds a double digit win over ND on this season. Absolutely no reason why they can not do it again.

41-33 at the half. I do believe that averages out to a 16 point win...:)
Chevon Troutman, so far, has been on fire off the bench.
Dan, your avatar is waiting for you in the avatar forum...:)

Carroll was a stud when he was in eighth grade ... it's not like he hit HS and turned into a star. He was dunking by the time he was in eighth grade. So if he was arrogant in HS, he probably was as a 14 year old too ... it's not likely he turned into an asshole right upon his acceptance into ND as a HS senior.
Pitt's playing a very good game thus far. ND needs someone aside from Thomas to step up for them.
BTW .... what the heck is the deal with the shirt Page wears under his jersey?

HS athletes tend to be a little bit different acting around their HS peers than they can be around their middle school girlfriends and family. I dunno. I am not arguing anything as i have never met the guy, but who knows. That is just what a dude named John told me...
What about the tshirt??? Not sure I have ever really noticed it.

I'm not sure I can really explain it. The best I can say is it's like a t-shirt, but the left part of it is cut off so the shirt only extends over his right forearm. Kind of like how a pitcher keeps a jacket over his pitching arm, except with Page it was just the opposite. I've just never seen it before on a basketball player.
That was a great game. I knew you'd finally come out and sport some PSU pride. ;)

Oh well.. Tough Loss....
If Pitt expects to go anywhere in the postseason, Brenden Knight REALLY needs to get his act together. There is no way they can expect to win with Knight not even hitting a field goal until the final 30 seconds.

Shawn, hasn't Knight struggled most of the season? I've seen Pitt a few times this year, and in every game he has struggled. I thought he's playing a lot worse this year than last.
If the Panthers are going to succeed in the postseason they'll also need someone aside from Lett and Troutman to step up. Page had a good game today, and if he can stay healthy and Knight plays like he did last year, Pitt will be in great shape.
It just seems to me like this year the Panthers aren't putting anyone away; they're winning close games. Last year they'd win by 15+, and I haven't seen too much of that this year.

Well Josh, Knight has still been the leader on the court. The problem is that he sprained his ankle badly in a game about a month or so ago, as well as had knee surgery during the summer. He never missed a game after the injury. I don't think that the knee has anything to do with it, but the ankle definitely does. He just can;t get up in the air well on his jump shot. He is not moving well.
Page has been coming up pretty big all season. I don't see him as a problem. Youre right though, the key to it is how well Knight plays. Krauser is good, but inexperienced as was evidenced by the traveling call late in today's game. I think that Brenden needs to sit down for a few games and rest the ankle.
