Ha ha, he's definitely working on it...I may be at that game. I'm going for sure tomorrow (Tuesday). This is my last chance to see Gwynn, so I hope he can rock Hampton for a couple! As rotten as this season has been for the Rockies, I hate to see it coming to an end.

Gee, they must be back at Coors Field. A huge night for Rickey Henderson. Henderson was 4-for-5 with three runs scored, leaving him three runs short of tying Ty Cobb's major league record of 2,245 and seven hits shy of 3,000. Henderson also hit his 500th career double.
Larry Walker went 4-for-4 with two homers and five runs scored.
Rockies 15, Padres 11
Speier (W, 3-2)
Lundquist (L, 0-1)

Henderson scored twice and moved within one run of tying Ty Cobb's career record of 2,245. He also had two hits, pulling him within five of No. 3,000. I will definitely be at the ballpark tonight!

Well, it would have been nice, James, but Rickey sat both games. I can kinda' understand, though. He may find those five hits a little harder to come by in Frisco or San Diego, though - not exactly Coors Field...

Rockies lose Game 3
Gwynn gets a ph walk, Henderson sits out and the Rockies lose. Not much of a ball game.

Rockies win Game 4
This was a much more exciting game. The Rockies come back from 8 runs down for the win. Nevin goes 3 for 5 with 7 rbi and 2 runs scored (including a grand slam), and the Padres still go down. Tony Gwynn got a ph single in the eighth. Henderson sat out the game, wanting to set his records in either San Francisco or San Diego.
Rockies 13, Padres 9
K Davis (W, 3-4)
J Herndon (L, 2-6)

The Rockies honored Tony Gwynn before the game. The crowd gave Gwynn a standing ovation while a highlight video was shown on the scoreboard. Gwynn was presented with a portrait by artist Malcolm Farley and with a fly-fishing rod and reel. Rockies players, who were on the field for the presentation, then shook hands and hugged Gwynn, who told the crowd, "I've had a blast." Gwynn's No. 19 was painted in the grass near each coaching box. Gwynn pretty much represented what is right with baseball during his career. Thanks, Mr. Gwynn, for the many memories!
