What pitcher holds the record for the most losses in a season? How many?

Brian Kingman 20 ???

I know it's not Kingman; Don Larsen lost 21. But it wouldn't surprise me if someone lost even more.

I'm assuming this is meant as most losses since 1900, and I believe that is George Bell with Brooklyn back in '09 or so, can't remember the exact year ... But he was 10-27 on the year.

Since then, I think Roger Craig's 24 losses with the '62 Mets is the most ... Craig had back-to-back 20-loss seasons with the Metropolitans.

and of course, even thought it was spread over 2 seasons, I don't think anyone will ever match Met Anthony Young's record of futility--27 consecutive losses. And it shoudla been longer; the one where he finally got a win he came into a tie game and gave up a run but the Mets bailed him out with 2 in the bottom of the inning to make him a "winner."

well, you must be talking pre 1900 in which case John Coleman lost 48 games in 1883 for Philadelphia.

Should we assume all of your queries include pre-1900 numbers from now on?
