These are considered the four most likely candidates to play centerfield and bat leadoff for the Tigers this season. Who would you choose?

I voted Lombard. He played very well last year, and he looks like he could be a good everyday player in the league. I've got a good feeling about him.

I saw Lombard play for the Braves a few years ago against the Expos, and he struck out 4 times and was struggling. I couldn't believe it when I saw him last year, and he looked pretty good.

Kingsale is the unknown commodity, at least to us. He was with Tram in San diego, and there has to be a reason we why got him. I really think at least three of these guys will get a fulltime shot at the job.

Hard to tell about any of these guys as they do not have much experience to judge by....

Kingsale looks somewhat promising although he is 26 and has not seen much time in the majors....
He seems to be a .270-.280 type of hitter with pretty good speed....
The only way he can utilize that speed of his is by getting on base and he just doesn't do that often enough. He's a switch-hitter who might want to think about sticking to the right side of the plate. There's very little power in his large frame and he's been highly injury-prone throughout his minor-league career.
There's still time for him to improve on his flaws but not a lot of it. If he can learn to keep the ball closer to the ground and slap the ball around, he can become a solid, Otis Nixon-style leadoff guy.

Hiram Bocachica strikes out a ton and rarely walks but has shown some decent power in the minors....He is an asset since he can play infield or outfield....Last season he almost beat out Mark Grudzielanek at second base...

Andres Torres is flat out a speedster...Problem is, you cant steal 1st:hmm: His average and OBP flat out stink and I definitely dont see him making it unless he flat out tears it up in the Spring..

Andres Torres is another guy that strikes out way too much....
Doesnt seem to be too much of a HR threat but again has great speed....
Had good #'s in AA but has never done much after that...Even the good year he had in Greenville, he hit .308 and had an OBP% of .410 in 122 games, he struck out 140 times.....Feast or famine with this guy.....

I went with Kingsale for the reason Gerg indicated. The Tigers management can't be all that happy with the other three options, if they felt the need the acquire Kingsale. You have to think he will be given every opportunity to be the starter.

I know he is old, but why not give Igor Larionov a call?
