Here's the latest poll guessing the Tigers' lineup. Today's subject: shortstop. Who do you think the Tigers will go with?

Here is Tom Gage's notes section with a story about the battle for starting shortstop.

Is Santiago the kid who hit 2 HR's off Pedro last year?
Hope he gets it.

Hope he gets it. Yeah, and i think those were his only two home runs last year lol.
I say Santiago. I think he's all around a little better. I think Infante would be better at second anyways, although i'm not sure how much Easley is going to play this year. I wouldn't really mind a 3 man rotation at second and short with these guys, but i don't know how well that'd work.

I think it's Santiago's job for now. Sure a great spring by Infante coupled with a terrible spring by Santiago may change that, but Santiago seems a bit further advanced right now.

It is my understanding that the scouts believe Infante will devolop a better bat than Santiago. Thats why I voted for Omar not too mention the 3 or 4 year age difference.

Don't they have a minor league SS they like a little better than both of these guys?

Well, theres Scott Moore, who's still at short for now, and is one of their top all around prospects. And Anderson Hernandez, who's 20, and a better feilder than Santiago and Infante(which is saying a lot).

Is Moore last years 1st round pick? If so i think i have read several places that they will have to move him, probably to 3rd.

Yeah he is, but their leaving him at short for now, because down the road it'll be easier to move him to third, than if they move him to third now, and need to move him back to short.
