I never thought I would be saying this but HELL NO! It's nice to have the name in the lineup but the guys gettin old and can barley get out of bed with out straining somthing or breaking somthing. I much rather have Beltran.

Can you say "attitude problem?"

NO FREAKIN' WAY!

From a Mets point of view, absolutely not. The guy has, as Julie pointed out, a big attitude problem. While that may have been worth putting up with a few years ago when he was healthy and hitting loads of home runs, it's not anymore.

Obri, a local radio host is practically begging the Mets to get Griffey. But I am reminded of a conversation held on another radio show last summer. They were talking about all the to-do about the possibility of Mike Piazza being gay. After the whole thing had blown over, one of the hosts said that, if this had to happen to anyone, it's good that it happened to a secure-in-his-own-skin, mature, classy guy like Mike Piazza rather than a thin-skinned baby like Griffey. OK, those were not his exact words, but that truly is the gist of what he was saying.

Griffey wouldn't last 2 seconds in the glare of the NY spotlight. If he can't handle Cincinnati, where the fans are amomg the most loyal and uncomplaining in the country, there is no way in hell he could handle NY, where the press and the fans are tough as nails.

I voted "Y" without any consideration for salary issues ... If I could deal either Cedeño or Burnitz for him, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

If I had my druthers, I'm with Leiterfan and would take Carlos Beltran instead if that's in the works ... Leiterfan's also probably right about Griffey in the NY spotlight, but still, if the money issues were even, I'd rather have Griffey in my outfield than either Burnitz or Cedeño

well, if it was burnitz for griffey straight up, i think theyd take that.

but realistically, they shouldnt try for griffey. he'd never survive there. its just like he would never survive in chicago's media, despite it being kid gloves compared to the NY media. he's a malcontent and his teams dont win with him on them.

NO!

Griffey wouldn't be able to handle the summer heat, plus there are too many people in the limelight he'd get lost!

I vote YES, Mets need to add power hitter in their depth. WIth the Reds, it is not working out for Jr. Give him a chance!

Give him a chance! Look what he has done the past 2 or 3 years. He's been on the DL atleast half of those games. He has never contributed to the Reds and it's not like the fans are booing him they still cheer him so it's like no pressure Grif just comeon whenever you want to:hmm:. No reason to have another old rotting vegetable in the lineup! GO AFTER BELTRAN!

I dont think Griffey would be a good fit in NY and in Shea. He did his best work in the Kingdome. Don't get me wrong he is one of my favourite's but the Mets should not go after him.
