Last year's happiest camper isn't so happy now.

Here's what I don't get. The guy has been moved around in the field ever since he got to the majors. It's not as though he was a staple at first base for every big league team he's played for. I don't quite understand the moping, but oh well. For $7 million per season, I'd just do what I was told, whatdayathink?

I think he'll be ok once he figures out he is probably our best hitter. once that is established his ego will be massaged enough that playing everyday will satisfy him. Hopefully anyways.

I hope/think you are both right. Young could be a rather valuable commodity to the Tigers this year. His ability to move around and, most of all, hit will be important for the Tigers to improve this year.
I am kind of baffled at what the appeal to firstbase is other than perhaps he feels he might embarass himself defensively elsewhere. He seems like a good guy, with a decent bat. I think the fans would embrace him if he could just find it to embrace the ballclub as he did a year ago.
As Gerg says, hoepfully playing, hitting and maybe winning a few more games will change his tune.

It's possble he's just become a little irked concerning the constant shuffling, especially since he thought that part was over when he joined the Tigers. The honeymoon period didn't last very long for Dimitri, and most of that was because he did nothing last year as he was hurt for most of it. I'm with you, I want him to bust open with that bat, and I'll settle for some fielding errors along the way. I don't think he's upset about moving out of first base as he is upset about 1) uncertainty thanks to the move, and 2) I think his ego was bruised when they brought Pena in, basically saying, "he's better than you."
