Throwing only 42 pitches 30 for strikes and only allowed one hit in 4 innings.

Most significantly, the 24-year-old sidearming right-hander threw just 42 pitches, 30 for strikes. Manager Bob Brenly has said Kim must cut down his pitch count to become a starter. He was known to throw 30 or more pitches in an inning as a closer.

"BK was fantastic today,'' Brenly said. "He's always been a very quick learner and very coachable. We told him what he needed to improve on from his last start, and today was a tremendous step in the right direction. ... That's what we envision him doing for us all season.''

Kim may just get the job. He seems to know how to lower his pitch count and dosen't tire as easily as we thought. I would say give him a couple of more games to prove himself.

Why in the world would Arizona want to use Kim as a starter??? :umm

I don't follow the diamondbacks, but it seems to me that Kim is one of the best relievers in the NL..... and the DB already have some of the best starters in the game..... :umm

Well Kim was a preety productive starter in Korea (which really means nothing) but I would rather see him in the final inning

This could be a great story if it works for Arizona ... I kinda' thought they were kidding when I first heard them discuss Kim as a possible starter ... The real key, however, is both Prinz and Mantei staying healthy ... If both of them go down (AGAIN!) or one's hurt and the other is throwing meat pitches, it's going to be ugly ... The quote I heard from AZ management was once they got Kim to going 4-5-6 innings this spring, there was no turning back with him, he would REMAIN in the rotation ... Snake fans can only hope the other two guys stay healthy.
