THIS FREAKIN' BURSTNET THING IS DRIVIN' ME FREAKIN' CRAZY!!!:banghead :banghead :banghead
Every single freakin' time I try to open a thread or a new page, it takes so long I could have 3 cups of coffee, and then I hear a double clicking sound and I get the freakin' "This page cannot be displayed....."..... blah, blah, blah, and it's this
:http://www.burstnet.com/cgi-bin/ads/sk6782a.cgi/3814/zg000066x000000l000000v000000k000000/RETURN-CODE
...... and I have to hit "back" to get to the page I originally wanted. It just started yesterday. Did you put a new ad on? Is it just my old computer that can't handle it?
I am so annoyed I could just.....
:Puter:
Cripes. It's taken all the fun out of posting.

I don't know. It's got to be something new, though, because this is happening every single time I try to open a page. Not just occasionally...... every single time. And it wasn't happening before yesterday.
Very annoying.:banghead

Actually, I just had the brilliant idea to clear my browser cache. (I have absolutely no idea what that means, but I do know how to do it. :D ) So I did it and we'll see if that does anything.

I'm pretty sure that big ass "Burst" ad to your left....
<-----------------
(sometimes it's there, sometimes it's not)
..... it's big and black and yellow, is the culprit. But I'm just guessing. That's the link that is on the top of the page when I get "Cannot Connect.... " or whatever.

That was happening to me on Saturday...it was so freaking annoying!!!
Today not so bad. I'm running through IE also, cuz when I run through AOL I can not Edit or Delete anything.

I can not guarantee anyone that this will help, but try this.
http://www.lavasoft.de/support/download/
go to that site, and download this program. It will detect all of the little programs which attach themselves to your hard drive when you download something... or go to certain site. After you run the scan, just go ahead and delete the folders it detects. It basically cleans the "garbage" from your computer. The first time i ran it, I found close to 200 files that I deleted. I run it once a week now, and my computer has been free of those problems.
This is what the website has to say about this program:
While the Internet is a powerful resource and provides users with many useful and often entertaining things to see and do, it also has its dark side.
Most people are familiar with freeware, shareware, cookies, media players, interactive content, and file sharing. What they may not realize is that some of the aforementioned may contain code or components that allow the developers of these applications and tools to actually collect and disseminate information about those using them.
They can track your surfing habits, abuse your Internet connection by sending this data to a third party, profile your shopping preferences, hijack your browser start page or pages, alter important system files, and can do this without your knowledge or permission. The security and privacy implications of these exploits should be quite obvious and undesirable on any system or network!
Lavasoft is the industry leader and most respected provider of anti Trackware solutions. We have developed several applications that will provide you with the means to keep your computer or network free of these compromising and intrusive threats to your privacy.

Thanks you guys. I can't figure out why this just started yesterday.
I'm going home now, and if it's still going on, I might just take you up on both of these suggestions!

I don't have any problems with POP UPS. I used to, but haven't in a long while.
The problem is with the ads to the left I think. this is what happens when I try to post a new thread or Reply.... 1st it takes awhile to get to the post page..then I can type what I want and when I hit send usually the Ad to the left goes to a "systems error" page... it says there is a problem with the website hit Refresh. Then the part where my post should be goes to a "system error" page. If I hit the back button or referesh it goes back to normal.....I think that's what Nanner has also.
It's totally the Burst Ad. Everytime it goes to that Ad the system goes down. If you hit the REfresh button it refreshes the ad. It's fine when it is the Disc Tv Ad.

YES! Kathleen, that is totally what it is. That's exactly what happens to me.

Okay, just for everyone's information. I came home and posted a few things here just using my AOL browser, which I haven't done for months. No problem. Then I went to try posting on the IE browser, like I've been doing for months, and I got the same problem.
Could this be an incompatibility thing with that ad and IE? (Wild guess on my part).
Well, as long as I can post using AOL, no problem.
Funny thing was, I started using the IE browser back when a couple of real PopUp ads started on this site. (They're since gone).
*sigh* Oh well. I'm rambling now. :hmm:

YES Kathleen and Nanner! It is the burst net thing. This just started yesterday. It's the ad to the left. It says loading burst net at the bottom of my page.
Can we please delete it? I had no problems with the TV ad, or pop-ups. Please.

I dont think it was the ad to the left but rather the Sports Infinity ad I had up top for people to vote for the site....
It hasnt bee working the other day and Jacqui and I figured it out that, that was the problem so I deleted it and everything seems to work now....
Nanner, let me know if you are still having the problems while using the IE....

There were popups several months ago, but only lasted for a couple of months. Now, there are just the banner ads, which are fine. I mistakenly thought the problem I was having was because of the Burst ad, (a banner ad on the side) which wasn't loading whenever I switched pages, and evreything was slow. But apparently brilliant James with the assist of brilliant Jacqui discovered that the voting thingy was slowing down everything, even causing the ad not to load.
Do I have that right, James? (Always trying to upgrade my computer savvy. :freak: )

Gee, I hope this post make it here because this past two days this site (or maybe it's my computer) had been loading up sooooo slooooooow! I've tried to post something but can't seem to due to slow loading. But strange enough is I'm still able to post something at the various sites that I visited in the past two days and today as well. So I guess this site's server may be lagging? It's very frustrating for me not to able to post anything here. :(
Oh well...I'll keep trying later.
This post better show up here.

Misha, it was the same for me on Fri-Sat as well, and the last little thing to load before it was ready seemed to be the burstnet thingy-bob that Nanner was talking about to start this whole thread ... I usually think it's the slow-as-molasses connection I have with Billy Bob Jumpback's Internet Service out here in the Texas sticks ... But maybe it's not always Billy Bob's fault:notme:
