Giambi hit lefties better than he hit righties last season, with a .286 average against them.
Meanwhile, Ortiz is pathetic against lefties. Last year he hit .203 against them and had a dreadful .637 OPS.

usually giambi doesnt hit lefties that well. last year was his only halfway decent year against them.

Last year Giambi sucked against lefties. I don't think he saw 4 pitches at any given at bat. He's a joke. There's a reason he's never played a full year.

Giambi has hit lefties better than he has righties in three of the past four seasons. Ortiz hasn't hit over .225 against lefties since '00.

Yeah, he only hit .286 against them an had an OBP of .432.

FF, you sound like Bill James. Stats, stats, stats....They mean nothing. What do your eyes tell you? They tell me when a pitcher(Doza) is getting people out, you don't pull him in favor of a lefty lefty match up.
I don't care what Giambi's OBP is, he can't hit.

I can understand why Little pulled Mendoza, especially with 3 lefties coming up in the 9th, but personally, I would have left well alone.
Is there anything going in the way of closers that the Red Sox could make a move for? This "closer-by-commitee" arrangement has already shown it's weakness.
And finally, I can't believe Garciaparra was seen laughing at his failure to turn a double play. Given the way the game turned out for Boston, this is no impression to give to loyal fans who in many cases are making financial sacrifices to pay his salary. Disgraceful.

Oh man. Is this how it's going to be all season? I'm afraid it might be. Get a good performance from the starting pitcher, then watch the bullpen F*CKING CRUMBLE INTO OBLIVION!!!
We would have won last night had Nomar been able to turn that double play with one out in the 9th. This WILL NOT be the last time Nomar' shoddy defense costs us a game. And as soon as he blew that, I just KNEW we were going to lose.
