Cool, the TV guide was wrong, today's Cubs game is on the tube.

They had some little kids lead the frozen fans in the Pledge of Allegiance to start the game ... Pretty neat.

A few Chicago crum-bums boo O Canada! ... Not nice, shouldn't ever lower yourself to the level of the @ssholes who acted up a few weeks ago at that silly hockey game.

For so many empty seats (Who can blame 'em? It's like minus-27 I think!) the crowd is belting out the Star Spangled banner ... Chip Caray says it's 29, but what does he know?

Looking for Ray in the stands, but so far no luck :freak:

Matt Clement starts for the Cubbies ... Endy Chavez grounds out 4-3 ... Jose Vidro hits shallow fly to Corey Patterson in CF, out #2 ... Vlad the Great goes down swinging.

Middle of the 1st with the wind blowing in off the lake.

Zach Day starts for the Cubs, he's on my fantasy team, big ol' sinker ball pitcher ... Grud-Alphabet leads off with a single that had some zip on it ... Alex Gonzalez up next, count runs full, walked him, not a wise thing with Sammy coming up next.

Sammy slaps one, a 1-bounce rocket to Cabrera at SS, flip to 2B for one out and fire to 1B for the DP, Grud moves to 3B on the play ... Mo Alou next up, hope he strains a muscle striking out ... Day bounces a pitch in front of Schneider, he shoulda' kept that in front of him, doesn't and Grud scores on the wild pitch (should be a passed ball) ... Alou walks, what a weeny!

Oh wait! I'm in the Cubs Forum, can't call him a weeny here or Ray will have my fat butt.

Big Choi the next Cubs hitter ... Squibber to 3B, on to 1B for the 5-3 ground out.

1st Inning At Wrigley For 2003 Is In The Books --- Chicago leads one-zip

Clement walked Liefer to lead off, but then erased him with a DP and then a quick 3rd out to end the Expos half of the inning.

Day whiffs Bellhorn to lead off the Cubs half of the 2nd ... Damian Miller pops out for a quick 2nd out ... Clement hits an easy bouncer to Liefer down at 1B, flip to Day covering the bag, and it's a 1-2-3 inning for Zach Day.

End of the 2nd inning, still 1-0 Chicago.

Cubs lead 3-0, Montreal still without a hit.

Cubs scored a pair in the bottom of the 3rd, pretty much because of a leadoff error by SS Orlando Cabrera.

Steve Stone is not kinned to Albert Einstein ... He says Zach Day is trailing today because he's a sinkerball pitcher and he's getting his pitches up ... I say that's a load of equine excrement ... He threw a groundball to Grud-alphabet to leadoff the 3rd inning, but Cabrera misplayed it and 2 unearned runs scored ... And Chicago's 1st run was because his pitch was so far down that it bounced (Montreal catcher Schneider didn't put forth a good effort forth to block it) and Grud scored on what was ruled a wild pitch.

Montreal trails 3-0 not because Day's pitches are up, but because his fielding is letting him down.

... Saw a lunatic buying beer and thought it might be Ray ... But it wasn't.

Wilkerson leads off Expos 5th with a single just to the outfield grass that migth not have been had Clement gotten off the mound quicker to cover 1B ... Cubs still get DP grounder to end the Montreal threat, Chicago still leads 3-0.

Good news about beer on a day like this is it's sure as hell not going to get hot if you drink it slow. :D

Positive, guy was not even close to being Addict Stud material ... Plus he was just buying one beer ... Ray would go on and get a 2nd one to save the beer dude a trip in such horrible weather :D

Clement getting the Dee-Pee's when he needs 'em, he looks real good today ... My boy Day took it on the chin today, but if it makes Ray happy, then I'm all for it.

Vlad takes Clement deep, just over the razor wire at the top of the ivy in left field, to break up the shutout ... Cubs lead 5-1

Ernie Banks, Mr Cub, sings "Take Me Out To The Ballgame" ... He almost sounds like Harry Caray a little :D What a great guy, he's cheering the fans and yelling at them to sing along with him! :clap2:

Montreal reliever Scott Stewart has either put on 10+ pounds or he's wearing like 12 sweatshirts under his jersey

Cubs take 'Spos 6-1 in Dusty's Wrigley debut at the North Side's helm ... Baker comments that it was the coldest he remembers being at a game, and that he caught a few fans reaching in their jackets for their flasks  Says Dusty, "I know they weren't reaching in there for popcorn." :clap2:

yep same place. i am still trying to warm up. the beer was too cold. 5.00 was a little steep today. so no beer.

there was a mad scramble for a ball in the middle of the game. i just missed winning the ball in the scrum. oh well. better luck next time. i still cant feel anything.

i was near most of the people who were booing. i told the guy near me to show some freakin class and that he was a freakin bunghole. (though in more vocal terms!)

most of those who were, were pretty tanked already.

good win! 6-1.
