Thoughts so far

First, the obvious, this bullpen is far more horrid than even I could have predicted. Some say, give it time, they have to settle in. I say, bring up Persons the nanosecond he is healthy, and put Casey in the pen.

Starting pitching gets a B thus far. Lowe and Pedro had one horrific outing apiece. BFD. Burkett, and Wake have been decent.
Casey belongs in the pen. Once he gets to the second time around in batting orders, he gets MURDERED.

Manny is in a horrific slump, and Nomah should be flagged with a wet noodle for his free-swinging, lousy D, AND TOTAL INABILITY TO HIT IN THE CLUTCH.

Millar and Shea get gold stars.

Giambi and Ortiz really need to return their salaries.

Damon, Walker, Trot, and Tek are average players, playing average.

Thoughts?

Oh yeah, and Grady is a joke.

Poor Cubbage is getting seizures watching this team.

Damian Jackson is great. He has come in games in the 9th, and promptly stole a base. Imagine. A dude who does his job.

No arguments here on any of that. I am encouraged by the last Lowe start. Pedro got hammered, but he sucks in cold, wet weather. He always has.

I am not worried about Manny. He'll come around.

Nomar is simply being the Nomar that I have come to expect.

I don't have any solutions for the bullpen. It's killing us and we need help, desperately.

Our offense has shown some spurts of life, but they are not being consistent. I would rather have a consistent effort than get 10-12 runs every fourth game, and get 2-4 runs the rest of the time. I think we could get consistency with a steady lineup, instead of having the lineup change every day like Grady is doing. He needs to be a man and make a decision on what the every day lineup will be. This shuffling around shit will keep us from developing any kind of team chemistry.

Overall, the Sox get a C- from me.

Bottom Line:

The Red Sox can only wish that their bullpen was as effective as the Devil Rays. Since it is NOT, and the Sox offense isn't much better than Tampa's, expect the Sox to win only one out of three.
