Ok, so McClatchy is asking our next GM to meet these guidelines:

1) have Ass. GM or scouting dir. experience
2) have that experience on a good club
3) turn the Pirates around
4) do so without making any personnel changes at all.

Items 1-3 are great ideas. But what in God's name is he doing protecting everybody already in place? If you're not going to let the GM manage, why hire one at all? Protecting McClendon, Clark, Williams, and co. ties the hand of any GM.

We already know that we won't be able to trade Meares, Young, or Bell, and they eat up a good portion of money. Giles, Kendall, A Ram, and Benson are considered untouchables.

What is anybody supposed to get in return for the remaining players that will make a lick of difference?

"The Mac and Mac Show" is downright unbearable. They both want to win, but neither realize that this team is not a 90 game winner, even if Schmidt, Cordova, Benson, Adrian Brown et al are all healthy.

McClatchy, if you're going to be this ridiculous, just end the search now, and save the city some embarrasment.

This has to be one of the most bizarre teams in baseball history on its way to 100+ loss season and yet playing guys like Wehner and keeping guys like C. Wilson on the bench. Let's hope that Kevin let's the new GM clean house after the season is over.

yeah! it seems to me that for every resonable sensible thing they do they have to match it with one that is highly illogical! ex. bringing wehner back when hes not even healthy! or fire bonifay and keep mclendon!

welcome to the forum chevy706!! glad you could make it.

Chevy .... welcome to the forum.

And you hit the nail on the head with the "Mac and Mac Show." As long as McClendon is the manager this team will NOT be better than .500.
