Now the cubs were supposed to have one of the best pitching staffs in the majors this year. that was a given, and its the case this year.

but their offense is 2nd in the NL.

wow!!

Yeah, but they've played the Reds three times .. for now, all numbers are twisted when you've beaten up on the Reds pitching staff for 20% of your games.

I think the Cubbies will be pretty good this year, maybe even win the division ... but their offense won't be carrying them. Alou's off to a good start, and maybe this is his breakout year with the Cubs ... but he has always had outstanding Aprils, so who knows if this is the start of a great season or the, what seems to be, norm. Plus, Choi's going to hit some stretches where he looks like a rookie, and that really debilitates the Cubs, since he's the only viable first baseman they have. Gonzalez won't be hitting near .400 this year, Patterson hasn't shown he will continue the pace he is off to this year, etc ... I think the Cubs will come back down to earth offensively around June or so ... they'll still be good offensively, but if they're going to win 90 games, Prior, Clement, Wood, Zambrano, and Estes will have more to do with it than Sosa, Alou, Choi, Gonzalez, Patterson, etc.
