After losing 3 of 4 to Boston, the Jays finally get an easier opponent. Hold on a minute-- the Rays are no longer a pushover. They have some good young talent with Rocco Baldelli and Carl Crawford.

Now time for the pitching matchups
Pete Walker (1-1 2.60 ERA) vs. Joe Kennedy (0-1 5.18) Ealker is off to a good start but his inability to pitch more then 6 innings makes this one a toss up. Flip a coin here.

Mark Hendrickson (1-2 6.97 ERA) vs. Victor Zambrano (0-2 7.77 ERA) Hendrickson has improved since his disaster against the Yankees. Zambrano is much more suited for the pen. Slight edge to Toronto.

Tanyon Sturtze (2-1 5.09) vs. Jorge Sosa (1-1 3.60) Sturtze may have came back to life when he got rocked by Boston. Sosa is off to a decent start. Slight edge to Tampa here.

Who to watch out for: After a slow start, last year's AL Rookie of the Year Eric Hinske is swinging the bat much better. He could have a nice series with the D-Rays pitching to him. For the D-Rays, Rocco Baldelli is going to have a nice career, he'll face Toronto for the first time in his career.

Whose up, whose gone: Justin or Jason Kerschner (Cant remember correct name :banghead ) is up from the farm after a nice start. A spring training surprise, Doug Linton is in AAA.

Jays should take at least 2 of 3 here.

Whose gone, whose up: (updated) The Jays optioned Reed Johnson, who was just recalled recently and had his first career hit on Sunday to AAA Syracuse. The team has brought up top prospect Jayson Werth who is done his rehad assignment and should split time with Frank Catalonotto in RF.

Sturtze is against his old team tonight, a team htat he lost 18 games with last season. I think he'll win game number 1 for the Jays to avoid a sweep in this one.

Sturtze pitched a solid 6 innings to improve to 3-1. His ERA now stands at 4.34 . The bad news is that the Jays are off to their second worst start in franchise history.
