Mets Owner Nixes Vandy for Rusch Deal!

According to CBS Sportsline, Mets owner Fred Wilpon has nixed the Rusch for Vandy deal! Reason, Wilpon wants Mets to focus on long-term not short term deals like Vandy.

I was hoping the deal would go through. Apparently, Rusch had some mechanical problems and they moved him over on the mound. Since then he's had two good starts, albeit one was against the Expos. I'm really not surprised the Mets didn't make this deal.

NYC media now reporting that Mets never offered Rusch straight-up for Vandy! In any event, Mets are probably now sellers and not buyers so I don't see anything happening between the Buccos and the Amazins.
