Vidro Apologizes for Obscene Gesture
MONTREAL -- Expos second baseman Jose Vidro apologized for making an obscene gesture to a television cameraman recording the team's bus before Montreal's home opener.
Videotape of Vidro raising the middle fingers of both hands Tuesday night was shown repeatedly on the TVA and LCN networks in Quebec.
"I didn't see the tape but I know what happened,'' Vidro said. "We were playing around on the bus and I flipped the finger to the guy.
"It was nothing against him or against anybody. I just want to apologize. I didn't think it was a bad thing, but if someone feels offended, take my apologies.''
The gesture was made while members of the Expos' starting lineup boarded a van to take them from their clubhouse to an area behind the center-field fence for their pregame introductions.
Vidro was taped as he sat in the front passenger seat and leaned back before holding up both arms to display his middle fingers
