10,000th Post--A trip down Memory Lane

Well here it is....My 10,000th post and thus becoming the 1st 10,000th poster here at Addicts...

What does this all mean??

Not much really except the fact that I guess I really have no life and waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much time on my hands;)

This is the 1st site that I have ever reached this particular milestone post (some call it a milestone:D)

Guess the main reason being that I never found a site that kept my interest up as much as this site does....
The main reason??
Why all of you reading this of course.....I love this site because of the peeps that post here....In my own little way, I guess I want to thank you all for making this site the site that it has become.....
A lot of us have come a long way as we have been posting together at various sites before Addicts became for most of us, our main Cyber home:)

For some of you that dont know, let me tell you how this site has become the site it is today....

About 4 years ago I stumbled across a site called SleeperPicks...... At the time it was by far the best baseball message board site I had ever come across....There were over a 1000 members at that site and it was very active and enjoyable...
It was there I met some of the peeps that you see here at this site.....
Peeps like Shawn, Cyn, Josh, Jacqui, Robin, Peebs, Misha, Nanner, Kathleen, Kel, Bill, Paul, Gary, Farin and Jesse......Sorry if I missed anyone.......

I was a moderator at the site as I suggested to the Admin over there that they add a History Forum as most of the forum were already in place.....They agreed to give it a try and made me a mod there....My 1st Mod job:D
The History Forum went over well and soon the powers added Shawn as a Co-Mod with me in that forum......An instant friendship developed with both our passions for the history of this great sport.....

Like I said, it was a very successful site until the members and posts got too big for the server and out of the blue one day the site just shut down.....(Some blame it on the 1000 post thread;))

Once the site shut down it scattered many of us all over the place....I took it upon myself to search out for a new site to make our home.....
After scanning around for some remote sites with not much activity I came across a site called HyperBaseball that only had about 50 members or so.....
I talked with the Admin over there and told him if I can double your membership in the next few days will he set up the site close to my request?? At the time he only had like 5 or 6 forums...He agreed and thru emails and other message boards the membership rose from like 50 to about 150-200 in a matter of a few days....He kept his end of the bargain and it appeared we had a new home....

Or so it seemed....I made the mistake of putting too much trust in the Adminss over there and they turned out to be immature and totally screwed up the site....They did not support the Admins and became very Edit and Delete happy as the site became no fun to go to anymore......

So once again I decided it was time for a change.......

About a year earlier I had come across this site and registered and only made a few post before coming across SleeperPicks...I had since forgotten about this site......

I came across it in my favorite places and decided to look into it....At the time there was only a few forums....Addicts was used mostly as a Fantasy site message boards with a lot of spamming....

I had a long talk with Chad (owner) and really liked what I had heard....I made the same proposal to him although he made the changes immediately as I tried to recruit some of the members from Hyper over here.....After about a week Chad made me the main Admin at the site, as he didnt really have time to put as much effort into this site because he had a lot of projects going on.....

The rest is pretty much history.....

I took over as Admin a little less than 2 years ago and have watched this site grow from about 5 or 6 forums to 48 forums and a good portion of them are pretty active.......

We went from about 30 or 40 members at the time to 1,354.....
We have 20,829 threads and 145,067 posts......

And along the way I have kept most of the old good friends from the other sites and made some very good new friends from here.....

If I am thankful for only one thing, it is that I feel I have more friends from all over and most are like an extended family here.....

I find it ironic that I have reached this post total the same week that I am to meet a number of the peeps from this site.....

How good are the peeps here??

Well I have yet to meet anyone form this site but yet Ray's parents are letting us stay with them for 2 nights on my trip, Cynthia sent me a bunch of Brooklyn Cyclone stuff when they had their inaugural season, Gary offered to get us tix to the game and bought me a hat....Jen's uncle even offered to let us stay with him for a night.....I mean, how cool is that where you can just talk to people over the net and become so friendly with them that they are willing to do things like that for you.....That is why I cherish all of you and and feel confident I can call most, "A Friend"

I have seen people genuinely care about others at this site.....
Everyone always seems to come together for each other in their time of need....From Vin's baseball games, to Cyn's dog passing away, to Kel being sick and going thru so much, to 9-11, to even peeps getting together a few years ago to get cards and chip in money to buy Jesse a present for his birthday as he was sick.....
How cool is that....

Of course we have had our rough times as well...Like any "family" we have had some good arguements along the way.....

I am sorry peeps like Jesse and Kel really dont post here as much any longer....But such is life and we go on.....

I am thankful for having the opportunity to meet new friends here at the site like Ray, Willie(who makes me laugh and astonishes me with his infinite wisdom of the game)Jon, Vin, Obri, Slush, Koz, David, Kyle, Dan(sometimes;)), Joe, Abben, Ralph, Mike, Brian, Jen and a host of others I know I am forgetting....Thank you all again, for being you!!!:clap2:

A special "Thank You" to all the moderators here at the site that do a phenominal job keeping interest up in your forums and keep an eye out on the site....

Alas my 10,000th post is here and soon be forgotten and I guess the next biggie will be 100,000 which I am pretty sure I will not be the 1st to achieve!!!

we have always soupported eachother here. Sometimes some of us may have gotten a bit angrey but we always get through it. James, Congrats FRIEND!!! I hope this site does stay around forever, not like Sleeperpicks. I enjoyed Sleeperpicks and I am so glad I have been a Mod here for Addicts. While being here from the beginning ... I'll never forget the day a massive number of Mets' fans swarmed the Sleeperpick Website and unleashed their craziness amongst all of us. Who ever knew that it would turn out to be a good thing?

For me, nothing will ever mean more to me than that time. A dynamic core of us sould stay up until the early hours of the morning talkin' about nothin' in particular, we'd make fun of eachother until we made eachother cry, and a bunch of us even met up at one time or another .. Heck, romance even entered the picture when we least expected it. Isn't that how Shawn and James fell for eachother? ;)

Man, nothing will ever beat those days -- but I'm glad a lot of you are still around today. A lot of you people are just amazing individuals -- and until the end of time, I'll forever leave a little place in my heart for Mets' fans (and Shawn) because of you guys.
