They have the third or fourth best chance of getting it I think.

So do you guys think that Lebron is still a shoe-in for #1 pick, even wit the emergence of Carmelo:umm
I'm sure he would be for Cleveland...but there has to be some teams that want a more instant production that Anthony could bring!

First of all, there's never going to be another MJ ... never. MJ did so much for the game ... he did too much for any other player to match what he did.
So Lebron "could be the next MJ" is out. And even if someone DOES come close to Jordan's achievements, it's not going to come from someone who struggles with his jump shot, from what I've heard. I guarantee Lebron isn't going to drive to the basket consistently against Wallace, O'Neal, Duncan, etc .. playing against kids a good three to four inches taller than him in HS, he had that luxury.
And you have got to be kidding me with the "unknown quantity" statement. James has skyrocketed to one of the most recognizable basketball players in the country. Even the very casual NBA fan has heard of him ... an unknown quantity would be the kid from Brazil, who the casual fan wouldn't know about. Maybe even Anthony, for that matter.
For the record: I would take Anthony over James. Anthony has a year of experience dominating A LOT of players who will go on to be pretty darn successful in the NBA ... James has a year of experience beating up on very talented 18 year olds. The majority of the 18 year olds James played against in HS won't be going on to play in the NBA ... Anthony, meanwhile, has gone up against almost sure-fire NBA players.
Now, a team like Cleveland would definitely take James, because he is so darn marketable, ESPECIALLY in that region ... but when it comes to helping my team win as soon as possible, I'll take Anthony. My bet is that Anthony has a better rookie year than James.

It would be instant suicide for the Cavs to not take LeBron. He has an enormous fan base here and wouldt instantly revitalize a city's love for basketball.
i dont know anythin about HS or College BBAll so i was wondering is anthony in HS

He went to Syracuse for one year ... he's 18 or 19, so he and James are very close age-wise.

ok so "the next MJ" isnt gonna happen but he could be as good if not better than Kobe, T-Mac, KG, Vince, etc....
what i mean by "unknown quanity"... im not sure the term comonly used.... is that we dont know how good Lebron is gonna be.. he has ENORMUS potential... hes only 18 and hes as good as the Kobe, T-Mac, KG type were in high school....i think you cant pass up a guy that could be that good.. do u wanna be the GM that passed on the next T-Mac to get the next Scottie Pippen??
Anthony could be better than LeBron but i think LeBron will draw the fans... and that ultimately is what matters.. if u get LeBron u will get instant fan attention...I think economically Lebron is the better but even though he is more of a risk....

Do I want to be the GM who passed on McGrady to get Pippen? No, because McGrady is and will be a great player. But ending up with one of the 50 best players of all time isn't so bad either, is it?
I'm not doubting James will bring the fans ... that he will do, and he will bring them in droves. I'm just saying that Anthony will contribute a lot more in the next two to three years than James ... and any team in the top three needs to win soon, not years from now.
Truthfully, I'd trade the pick to one of the two teams behind me so I still end up with Anthony or Hilario, I think that's his name. You could get a king's ransom for that pick ... especially if Cleveland is one of the teams behind you. You'd still end up with a very good prospect and probably the team who traded for James would also give up an NBA player who has his feet on the ground ... I would rather have a player who has shown he will be a good player and Anthony/Hilario than James alone.
Similar situation is when San Diego traded the #1 pick to Atlanta to draft Vick ... both teams ended up with stars, San Diego has their starting QB from the deal, both teams really did well in the trade ... that's what I think a team almost ready to contend (I don't follow the NBA, so I can't cite an example) would be wise to trade the rights to James in exchange for the rights for Carmelo/Hilario and another proven player.

Just to point out to you Josh, Nene Hilario was the Brazilian last year picked by Denver. You are refering to Darko Milicic from Yugoslavia I believe.

The top 3 teams are LIKELY not gonnna make the Finals any time soon and it may be better for them to just ride the bottom for another year or too.. I think the Nuggets are one team poised to make a run anythime soon... they have 2 great Rookies from last year and i would like to think they would take Lebron, in think one of the rookies plays the same Pos. as Carmello....
Carmello will be better right away, but with in 3-4 years LeBron will likely be better, then again that could be with a different team then the one that drafts him... i just think that none of these teams in the loterry will be making Playoff ruins anytime soon, and if they do they likely wont be near the Finals :)

The fact of the matter is that all three teams with the top picks WILL get a great player.
And don't count out the Nuggets for a playoff run next year. Their coach gets them to play well and they have loads of money to unload on free agents this offseason and will make runs at Gilbert, Elton and some other top FAs.
