View Full Version : YOUR MLB Extra Innings Viewing Habits

Hey, kinda curious about this, for those of you who have MLB Extra Innings, what would you consider your viewing habits are? Like, what teams do you like to watch, what teams do you find yourself NOT watching? Do you flip around a lot, or do you find a game that intrigues you, and you stay with it, with the occasional flipping between innings?

I notice that I watch a lot of Yankee games, especially when they are playing a game at Yankee Stadium, and especially a day game there. The atmosphere at that stadium is PURE baseball, and it makes for an enjoyable watch. I'm not even a Yankee fan, I usually root for them to LOSE, but I love watching the theatre that is Yankee Stadium baseball. It doesn't hurt that they're a good club. I love listening to Michael Kay on YES.

I watch the Red Sox as well, for many of the same reasons as I've stated about the Yankees. They're a good offensive club, and you never know when the game will change course when you play at Fenway, like today's Twins-Sox game.

I'll watch the Twins once in a while, I'll watch the White Sox occasionly, Mariners occasionally, the A's, Rangers, Angels, and Blue Jays often. I like the Jays because they're an offensive force, and the Angels, though not doing so hot, still have that Rally Monkey thing going on with their bats. Orioles, Rays, Indians, and Royals rarely. I'll watch the Tigers (my team) often until they get blown out in inning 3, then I take advantage of Extra Innings.

I'll watch the Braves, Phillies, Expos a little, the Marlins rarely, the Mets a little less than often. I'll watch the Cardinals often, Cubs sometimes, Astros sometimes, Pirates often, Reds often, and Milwaukee somtimes. I'll watch Giants games, Rockies sometimes, the Dodgers often, Arizona pretty much never, and Padres sometimes.

I find myself getting stuck on an intriguing matchup and enjoying that for the night. Sometimes I roam if there is no compelling matchup. Once the 7:00 EST games are over, I'll make a decision on whether I'm staying up to watch another couple, or if I call it a night. The West Coast games are enjoyable but I can't seem to stay awake for the conclusions a lot of the time. Angels, Dodgers, and Giants are a very entertaining watch.

Anybody else?

I had MLB Extra Innings Last year but I didn't have it everyday. It pissed me off because it was the same thing every night-- they'd have every game game in MLB except for 2, the Jays game because it was being boradcasted nationally and you did not need MLB Extra Innings, and the Expos game. I'd pretty juch only watch it when the Expos were ever on, which was barely. I watched a few-Yankees vs. Sox games too, but other then that I didnt get much use out of it.

I hate Michael Kay. I actually find the Yank broadcasters boring as hell, almost as bad as the Braves dudes on TBS.:barf:

My husband won't let me get Xtra Innings. I'll fix him.

Generally, I check for the Red Sox first. (This presumes, of course, that I am not watching the Tigers on local tv.) You can't beat a Sox game at Fenway in particular. However, I do check on them almost every night regardless of where they are playing.

After the Sox, it depends. Generally, it's whatever match-up I find most interesting. It could be two good teams, a great pitching match-up or just seeing how my fantasy league guy(s) is doing.

Amongst the other teams, I tend to prefer the Cubs and Arizona just because I loved the Harry Caray, Steve Stone and Thom Brenneman WGN Cubs broadcasts. Stone is still with Chicago and Brenneman is in AZ, so I will check them out. I like both teams, too.

However, I am a true junkie. I can find a reason to watch almost any game.

PP, if you love the game, you've got to get Extra Innings. You can watch "our" Tigers.

I didn't do the fantasy league thing this year because I was getting MLB Extra Innings. Over the last few years, it seems like I sort of lost SOME of the passion I had for stats, pennant races, batting title races, and what have you. Basically I was obsessed with my stupid fantasy roster, and all I would care about is my stupid players' stats. I often lost track of how was leading in the division races, who was winning the RBI Title race, or whatever. I never even read box scores anymore. So, for me anyways, I wanted to get EXTRA INNINGS because I wanted to "fall in love" again with baseball. I know that sounds corny and so Richard Simmons-like, but it has allowed me to do just that. I now am back to following the GAME, not my dumb fantasy team.

I know what you mean about Brenneman. I couldn't stand Caray, but in the early 90's, a local radio station here broadcasted Cubs' games, and I LOVED listening to Brenneman. Outstanding. I was dissapointed he went to Arizona, because I think he's better on radio, though he's great on TV too.

I think you sort of agree with me Trots about the atmosphere, thus the appeal for watching a game that's being played at Fenway. I'm a HUGE fan of baseball history and baseball documentaries, and Fenway Park and the Red Sox are LOADED with history and tradition.

You can get them unscrambled...you don't need a new card.

It's just the programs you are using....see whatever they do to you in the states is send out world wide...they through the air in the singles do that. It's just the person you had doing the programs didn't have the knowledge to bypass such things. My last program lasted 8 months and this one I hasve in now has been god for 4 now. You just need to find someone to do it..and to do it right.
