White Sox announce Spring Training schedule

CHICAGO -- The Chicago White Sox open the 2002 Cactus League season, their fifth in Tucson, Ariz., with three consecutive games against the World Champion Arizona Diamondbacks, March 1-3 at Tucson Electric Park (TEP).
Manager Jerry Manuel's White Sox play 10 of their first 13 games at TEP and make just nine trips to the Phoenix area. The White Sox and Chicago Cubs meet four times, with the Sox hosting the Cubs for the first time on March 8 and again on March 28. The Sox travel to Mesa, Ariz. to play the Cubs on March 5 and March 17.
The White Sox face three 2001 playoff teams over a three-game span from March 9-11. The Sox host Arizona on March 9 (7:05 p.m. MST start), travel to the Oakland Athletics, American League Wild Card winner, on March 10, and return to TEP to play the AL West Division Champion Seattle Mariners on March 11.
All White Sox home games at TEP are scheduled for 1:05 p.m. (MST), except the March 5 and March 9 games vs. Arizona (both 7:05 p.m. starts).
For the second straight season, the White Sox meet the Brewers in exhibition games at Miller Park in Milwaukee. The Sox and Brewers play March 29 (7:05 p.m. CST) and March 30 (1:05 p.m. CST). To conclude the exhibition schedule, the White Sox make their first-ever visit to Pac Bell Park on March 31 (1:05 p.m. PST) to play the San Francisco Giants.
Spring training tickets go on sale January 7 and can be purchased by calling 520-434-1111. A spring training radio/television broadcast schedule will be announced at a future date.
