Bottom of the 6th, guys on 1st and 2nd, 2 outs, Howe takes Pedro out in favor of Timo batting. Hmmmmmm..... Pedro was sort of having a good game. I hope our bullpen can hold the Phillies here. :um: Let's see what Timo can do.

What's with substituting pitchers to run?!?!?:umm Howe just put in Jae Seo to run for Phillips at 2nd. Granted, Jason hasn't struck me as that speedy a guy, but Jae? Guess Art's got a plan.

I was at the game today! It was such fun.
As for pitchers being used as pinch-runners, why not? Davey Johnson used Ron Darling all the time to run. It makes perfect sense to me.
Art's smart enough not to use Al though. Al makes Jason Phillips look like a speed demon. In fact, one of the radio guys once said that Sid Fernandez was the slowest Met he'd ever seen.
And then he met Mo Vaughn and Al Leiter. :rotf:

Well, I was thinking last night when I was watching Jason Phillips run, that he ran sort of funny.... that he didn't exactly look like a speed demon. It was just sort of funny to see Steve substituted for him.
I'm watching the repeat of the game right now. Jae was so happy to score that run! :clap2: It does look like it must have been fun to be there! :D

Reminds me of a game back in the early 80s that last 2 hours and 2 minutes ... Astros 2B Billy Doran said after the game, "We'd have broken the 2-hour mark if (Alan) Ashby hadn't hit that triple." Now that's slow.

I love the idea of using Pitchers as pinchrunners[as long as they don't get hurt]
it keeps everyone in the game, sometimes you see the pitchers just chilling in the bullpen this way they have to be on there toes and ready to play.
