The rumors are flying this afternoon that the Pistons are going to can Rick Carlisle. While I find this hard the imagine, he does only have one year left on his contract and their are reports that Joe Dumars might be having some squabbles with his coach.
Firing Carlisle would be plain stupid, imo, but dumber things have happened.

Apparently, Joe D and Rick aren't seeing eye to eye. It's all just speculation right now, but after back to back fifty win seasons and Carlisle doesn't get a contract extension, it opens the door to such rumors.
I'm still hoping it's all internet driven garbage.

Wow, I would of never saw this coming. If he were coming I wouldnt be surprised if he was going to Toronto because they appear to bready to sign Detroit's assistant coach Kevin O'Neil, but if Carlisle were to get fired I bet Toronto would jump all over him.
I really dont see this happening though, pretty stupid IMO.

they cant fire rick carlisle. he did alot in his first two full seasons with the pistons. he made the pistons win 50 games for two straight years. and they made the eastern conference finals this year. they should give him more time to make the detroit a championship caliber team. this is just plain stupidity in the part of the the detroit pistons management. :banghead

I really hope your not buying into this Trots. Joe D. brought in a bunch of scrubs, they did nothing untill Carlisle took over. He took them to 2 strait 50 win seasons. A one, and a two sead both years. He made it past the first round both years, which is more than the last 4 or 5 coaches did with much more talented teams. And won coach of the year. ALL IN 2 YEARS!!! Dumars is lucky to have him as coach, and he needs to learn to get along with him.
But i have the rumors too, but i think he will stay at least threw this year.

I think it's just speculation, #1. I hope it's just speculation. Although, I do wonder what more the guy has to do to get a contract extension? If Joe D. leaves him a lame duck to start next season, then the team struggles a bit (which they may as I anticipate some new players and a new starting lineup), Carlisle could lose the team then. Dumars needs to end the mystery and sign Carlisle ASAP.

I still think Carlisle should have been the Coach of the Year..
I mean, I look at that team and the fact that they were the top seed in the East I find extrodinary......
He did an amazing job IMO......
Cant believe this to be true....But like you say B, stranger things have happend:banghead
if he is so good why do they want him gone?

He really hasn't done anything wrong. He's kind of quiet, and just does his job. But, if there's any quaraling between these 2, i guarantee you the fans will take Dumars side in an instant. Other than that, i'm not really sure whats the problem. It's mostley whispers though so far, but i do think he will get an extension.
