this is a shocker for me. i thought carlisle did a good job with the pistons except for the humiliation that new jersey gave them. he sould have one more year just to prove the owners that they have what it takes to win the finals.

I dont think Brown will go there.... reminds me of Tampa Bay in the NFL firing TOny Dungy to get Bill Parcells.. then not getting him and winning the championship with a diff coach anyways.. same thing here

Lenny Wilkens is gone from Toronto. I wonder if he will catch on anywhere with at least a small job.
If your counting the regular season John Lucas is gone from Cleveland.

ESPN.com says ESPN has learned that, despite reports Larry Brown will take the job, a deal isn't done yet.

You can't say I didn't warn everyone about this. There is still a great deal of mystery here behind the move, though. Dumars' news conference, with Carlisle, has really confused everyone.
Dumars said the players complaints were not an issue, that Carlisle got the absolute most out of the team, that he and Rick had no rift between them and that based on the team's success he could not explain the firing. However, he felt he could not discuss why Carlisle got canned. Huh?
The general theory, at this moment, seems to be that they love the thought of getting Larry Brown. Carlisle said during the press conference something to the affect "That Joe would not make this move without bringing in a big name replacement". The rumors persist that the Brown deal is all but done. Who else is really a "big name"?
For the conspiracy theorists, the biggest rumor seems to be that Joe D's boss, Tom Wilson, was the one behind the move. Carlisle mentioned just about everyone in the front office, but Wilson in his statements.
The only thing we know for sure, other than Carlisle is gone, is that team's front office personnel lie. A lot. This is a strange and unfair firing on the surface.

:yikes:
O.K., i worked all day, and i come home to find this??? I was about ready to yell at Ren for playing a sick joke. Just the other day Rickwas on the radio, and he said everything was alright with him, and the rest of the front office.
I'm not exactly sure if i'd want Larry Brown to coach the Pistons. He'd problably take them to the finals, and quit a day before. Thats the way he is. What about Rudy Tomjonavich? He's born and raised in Michigan. Or Kevin O'Neill. He almost got Northwestern to a .500 record one year!:D

There are seven coaching vacancies altogether, I think. Rudy T, Larry Brown, Rick Carlisle, Lenny Wilkens, Doug Collins, and at least two more.

Silas was fired by NO too.
Carlisle is expected to meet with two teams about coaching vacancy, I was reading this and it might make milkey pretty happy:
The New York Daily News reports the Pacers may pursue Rick Carlisle as a replacement for Isiah Thomas. Carlisle was fired from Detroit on Saturday

He didn't, although he should be. Sad if Walsh doesn't fire him with all these good coaches on the market :(
