Ponson to start for streaking O's
Texas (25-29) at Baltimore (27-27), 1:35 p.m. ET
By Gary Washburn / MLB.com
BALTIMORE -- Former Rangers pitcher Rick Helling tossed seven solid innings Saturday as the Orioles earned at least a split of the series against Texas with a 7-1 win. Now the O's look to close out their final homestand before Interleague play with a 5-1 record. Sidney Ponson will pitch Sunday.
Ponson has been the Orioles' most consistent starter this season, winning six of his past eight starts. He has been strong, even in defeat, and it should be an interesting matchup against the aggressive Texas lineup.
Melvin Mora (13) and Tony Batista (12) will look to extend their hitting streaks. Both waited until the eighth inning Saturday to collect hits. The Orioles are at .500 for the first time since May 10 and have won eight of 11 games.
The Orioles play one more with Texas and then head to Houston and St. Louis before opening a 10-game homestand against the Cubs, Brewers and Blue Jays.

Player to watch: David Segui has batted .183 in his past 15 games, lowering his average from .387 to .296. The Orioles' offense has moved on without his production.
Quotable: "If I hit like I was supposed to, I would have 100 RBIs by now with the way the guys ahead of me have been hitting." -- Segui on his recent slump.
