Outfielder Todd Hollandsworth, if all goes well, may begin a rehab assignment in a couple of weeks. He's been out since May 12 after he fouled a pitch off his right shin, causing nerve damage.

In his absence, left field has been a sore spot for the Rockies. If Colorado does make a move from within, look for Cliff Brumbaugh to be promoted. Claimed from the Texas Rangers, Brumbaugh possesses a decent glove and can man a variety of positions.

"If you change our bench, we would want to do with a player who is strong defensively," said assistant general manager Josh Byrnes. "He's capable of playing all three outfield spots and first and third base."
