HOUSTON -- The Orioles' first foray into Interleague play this year continues on Wednesday as Baltimore takes a second shot at the Houston Astros.
The Orioles now carry a 46-58 record in Interleague action, and manager Mike Hargrove is still not convinced that playing National League teams is a good idea.
"The National League game makes you do things differently than you would in the American League," Hargrove said. "You don't want to double switch in the fifth inning, but our bench played well."
Hargrove says he and his coaches came ready to play a National League style and it showed as he pulled the dreaded double switch in the fifth, removing starter Jason Johnson in favor of B.J. Ryan. His approach won't change for game two of the series with Houston.
"That's not why we got beat. We got beat because we didn't pitch well," Hargrove said.
After the Houston series, Interleague play takes the O's to St. Louis, then back home for series against the Chicago Cubs and Milwaukee Brewers.

He hit four homers in Interleague play in 2002 and he'll do it on the first pitch. Twelve of his 28 homers last year came on first pitches. Tuesday's homer came on the second pitch.
Quotable: "It's like a Cracker Jack box. The field's a joke. You have to get ground balls with every pitch you throw." -- Jason Johnson on his first experience with Minute Maid Park.
