Cyclones, MSG renew deal
Ten games to be broadcast on FOX Sports Net
Brooklyn, NY -- The Brooklyn Cyclones renewed their television contract with MSG Networks to broadcast ten home games live on FOX Sports Net New York. The agreement gives the Cyclones a broad audience reach, as FOX Sports Network is broadcast into over 7.5 million homes. The deal allows fans throughout New York City, as well as Long Island, upstate New York and parts of New Jersey and Connecticut, to have the opportunity to witness Brooklyn baseball live. In addition to the 10 games broadcast on FOX Sports Net, the Cyclones will also air two games on the Metro Channel.
"Having our games broadcast to such a wide audience really legitimizes minor league baseball in a major league market such as New York," said R.C. Reuteman, Senior Vice President of Business Affairs for the Brooklyn Cyclones. "Renewing the deal with MSG Networks for telecast on FOX Sports New York adds to the exposure of the Brooklyn Cyclones and hopefully helps build interest and attracts new fans."
The home opener on June 23rd against the Staten Island Yankees will be the first televised game this year. Fans can tune in throughout the season to witness match-ups against such teams as the Mahoning Valley Scrappers, Batavia Muckdogs, Williamsport Cross Cutters and Aberdeen Iron Birds, the Baltimore Orioles affiliate owned by Cal Ripken Jr. The television schedule is as follows:
6/23 Staten Island 7:00 PM
6/29 New Jersey 5:00 PM
7/3 Aberdeen 7:00 PM
7/11 New Jersey 7:00 PM (MetroChannel)
7/13 Auburn 5:00 PM
7/16 Staten Island 7:00 PM
7/27 Williamsport 5:00 PM
8/3 Staten Island 5:00 PM
8/4 Aberdeen 7:00 PM
8/8 Williamsport 7:00 PM (MetroChannel)
8/17 Hudson Valley 5:00 PM
8/31 Vermont 5:00 PM
MetroChannel will broadcast the July 11th and August 8th games, while MSG Network will rebroadcast all FOX Sports games on a delayed basis.
"Having the Cyclones televised on FOX Sports Net, where fans can also watch Mets games, is important for them and for us. Fans get excited about seeing players come up through the minor league system. The Cyclones' televised games allow more fans to see future major leaguers," said Jeff Wilpon, Senior Executive Vice President and COO of the Brooklyn Cyclones.
