That was a really weird season, pretty loopy times for a high school senior as well :freak: But I've always thought it was really more of a miracle that the Mets made it to Game 7 of the Series that year against the A's than a miracle when they won it in '69 ... I understand why '69 gets the "Miracle Mets" tag, but the '73 team did more with less in my memory.

You're right. They did.

But 1969 was a miracle because they went from being the worst team in history to winning the WS within a very short period of time. They were the first of the four original expansion teams to win a World Series and, until the Royals won it all in 1985, they were the ONLY expansion team to win a World Series.
