He pitched a rehab assignment last night for AA Bowie Baysox, and looked really good, apparently. WOOHOO!!!! GOOD NEWS!!!

Here's a recap from www.orioleshangout.com:

Recap: Rodrigo Lopez, starting on a rehab assignment at Bowie, struck out 13 batters to tie John Stephens for second place on the all-time Baysox single game strikeout record as the Baysox beat Reading 7-1. Stephens twice fanned 13 batters. Jimmy Haynes holds the team record with 16 Ks.

Lopez, on a 90-pitch count, was lifted with one-out in the seventh inning after making 85 pitches, 62 for strikes and 23 for balls. He allowed three hits, no runs and no walks. Lopez was 0-3 with a 7.36 ERA in six starts with the Orioles before being placed on the DL on May 2 with a strained oblique muscle in his left side.

“I feel pretty good. I’m feeling good emotional, physically and mentally,” said Lopez after the game. “I feel good enough to go back to the Orioles now. I wanted to show them proof I’m okay, I’m hitting all the spots and all my pitches are working.”
