Isn't that the truth!!! God, that's my favorite movie. I heard this on the news this morning and it made me so depressed!

I've been thinking alot about this movie lately. Probably because last week they had a program on (I think it was) CBS, about the top 100 heroes and villains of movies. Atticus Finch ended up being the No. 1 hero.... for his quiet humanity and goodness, and what he represented. Then they showed one of my favorite scenes from the movie. Atticus has just finished defending Tom Robinson, the black man, and everyone has left the court room except for all the black members of the gallery up in the balcony. They're all still there. Scout and Jem are sitting with the Reverend Sykes. As Atticus gathers his things and starts to leave, they all stand up. Reverend Sykes leans over to Scout and says, "Jean Louise. Jean Louise, stand up. Your father's passing." and they all silently pay tribute to him as he walks out of the courtroom. That scene has stuck in my brain forever. And it's so appropriate for me to remember it when I think of Gregory Peck.... a quiet, dignified, humane man.

Geez. I can't believe he's gone. I feel like watching all his movies now. What a film legacy he left us.
