I mostly do yoga and now I've started taking boxing classes (very fun! but grueling!:uhoh: )
I really want to get in very good shape--- anyone here know the best BALANCED way to get in shape?? I heard that rotating different types of activities is the best way...... what do you think? shawn?:)
and do I have to watch what I eat? (I pretty much eat whatever :hmm: )

Well, funny you should mention this right now, because I just got back from the gym. Friends of mine belong to Reebok, and they give me their guest passes.... which come in handy since I gave up my gym membership when I was unemployed.
I had such a great workout... the Precor EFX, or whatever it is, for a 25 minute cardio workout... (a gliding, kind of uphill, no impact thing), then leg work on the machines, then arm work with free weights. I'd like to alternate with days of running... that's what I was doing for a long time. It seemed to work well for me, and I am trying desperately to get back to a regular running routine.
I know you want me to try those yoga classes... I know I'd love them. Sooon..... sooooooon.
And I think if you're getting a good cardio workout (which you ARE, with the boxing), you can pretty much eat what you want, but still watch the fat intake.

yes.. you should always watch what you eat... if you don't, you may totally miss your mouth... anmd that can sure get messy at times...
I am not sure that I would say there is any one "best" workout, but rather it would depend on what kind of fitness you are going for.
As for me, I don't really "work-out." I can't stand machines... I think that if I am going to put forth all of that effort, the i sure as heck had better get somewhere, not end up in the same place where i started. For me, though, I run 6 days a week. On Monday, wednesday, and friday I do distances... anywhere from one mile ranging up to 10 miles. On off days, I run sprints on the hill. Usually a set of 15... The first 5 holding my breath.
I also exercise my jaw muscles a lot... ... haha.. not really....
I rarely EVER talk.... Do cyn?

I walk. From my car all the way to class. Then I walk in between my classes. Then I walk back to my car. Then I walk from my car to work. Then from work to my car. Oh..and I walk at work, too. I walk inside my house, also.
Whew. I'm tired. ;)

i went to marblehead, massachussetts with my sister this weekend (she drove up there to pick up her g/f who was visiting her family) ......in the downstairs bathroom of their house, there was a book called "the dog codependent's handbook"
*sigh*, i am a dog codependent:ohno:
my bossy little polly rules my life:pout: (she came with us to marblehead, of course.... that was the only way she would let me go with my sis:ohno: )
so yeah, i have to get polly's permission to do anything:ohno:
and now that i think of it..... polly LOVES chicago!:uhoh: one time i went to visit my sis (she lived there for about a year), i went with a couple of people [we had to drive cuz polly had to come, of course, and she insisted we bring her friend, barkey (an obnoxious little chihuahua) ] but it was sooo much fun..... polly had the most fun, naturally, and she even got her picture in the paper (we went to this festival thing and polly was the only dog there, i think, and she started flirting with this journalist lady, who fell in love with her, took pictures of her, and ended up putting it in the local paper!)
i think we should make a bet as to who can stay up longer and talk longer:) ......i would soooo win..... i do bikram yoga afterall:2guns:
you're just a hockey player:biggrin:

oh right.. of course.. I forgot all about polly being your dog's name.. silly me...
o far, there are maybe 4 or 5 of us going.. and an old friend maybe driving up from knoxville to meet us.... Should be a lot of fun hopefully. We have no real plans yet except for to go to the cheescake factory... That is the only thing that is definite.
We may even have a free place to stay..
woohoo
