Ok, the matchup I've been waiting for since 1962.

Real quick, is this who y'all are throwing against us: Rupe, D-Lo and Bunghole on Sunday? ... JJ, Tee Red and Wade T. Miller fall right in line with our rotation ... I saw Rupe pitch when he went to my alma mater at Texas A&M, boy had a world of potential but has pretty much started-farted-fumbled-and-fallen since then ... My gut says Lowe will pinch us good ... Houston had some success against Kim when he relieved in the desert, but not sure how we'll do against him in a starting role.

Sure sorry we couldn't take at least 2 of 3 from the yankees ... Astros really sucked pond water on Tuesday and Thursday, feel like we gave both of those games away, at least we missed a lot of chances to beat the yankees at least once more.

I'm jealous of anyone and everyone who is getting a chance to go to these games this weekend ... Last time I was at Fenway was September 19th, 1997 ... Sox dropped a 5-4 game to the ChiSox in a 10-inning affair ... It was a 1-0 game in favor of Boston going into 9th, couldn't believe I was going to watch a 1-0 game at Fenway ...Sure enough, I wasn't ... Poop for brains Albert Belle popped a grand slam in the top of the 9th, but Curtis Pride and Scott Hatteberg each homered in the bottom of the 9th to tie it 4-4 ... Then the Big Jerk Frank Thomas singled in the game winner in the 10th off Lowe.

Anyway, Mrs PopTop and I stayed at the Prudential Center, and we also got to see the Sox beat the Jays 3-2 the night before ... Cool couple of days, can still vividly recall the walk from the Prudential Center (can't remember that street, something like Boston Ave but that's not it) ... And it's just so cool down on Yawkey Way & Brookline before a game there ... People out in the streets waiting for them to raise those big metal doors and let you in, drinking ales at a little cramped bar real near that corner ... There's another bigger bar further up Brookline that's pretty neat as well.

Wish I was going to be there ... Best of luck to the Sox and the 'Stros this weekend ... Oh, and please wouldya' give Jimy hell for me?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Pops, the atmosphere surrounding Fenway before home games is awesome. You can just FEEL the baseball in the air. The sounds, the smells....it's just awesome. :) I get to about five games a year. Pre-game brews and food in a local bar is a big part of the experience.

Should be a good series!!

First off, who let that damn Cubs fan in here?

Baboon, I'm very jealous ... I've been to a total of 5 games at Fenway during 3 different trips, man it is awesome ... Very much like the way it was around old Tiger Stadium and, from what I'm told, Wrigley Field ... Too cool, almost illegally cool I think.

With my apologies to Dave Loggins and David Alan Coe, I "wrote" a little song for this most momentus occasion in my baseball life ... There really will be no other baseball for me this weekend regardless of what happens in the other 42 games on the slate the next 3 days ... Feel free to join in or just hum along

'Stros Go to Boston
(sung to Please come to Boston)

Please come to Boston with the Astros
I'm staying here with some friends and they've got lots of beer
You can sell your body on the sidewalk
By a tavern where I hope to be drinking more beer
Please come to Boston, she said "No,
Baby you go on without me."

Chorus:
She said "Astros fan, won't ya settle down?
Boston ain’t your kind of town
They talk real weird and they once hired ol’ Jimy
I'm the number one fan of Bagwell can’t you see

Please come to Boston for the weekend
We'll walk down Yawkey Way and have some lunch
We can yell, “Yankees Suck” with the Sox fans
And dine on Fenway franks that I love to munch
Please come to Boston, she said "No,
Baby you go on without me."

(Chorus)

Please come to Beantown for the series
We just no-hit the Yankees and we’re playing well
We’ll watch the homers fly out o’er the Monstah
And listen to the Sox fans giving Jimy hell.
Please come to Boston, she said "No,
Baby you go on without me."

(Chorus)

Pops, I think that's a number one hit waiting to happen!!! :D :D

You know, I've been to a few other parks, and it's like this: Huge stadium, fully surrounded by parking lots, no food or beer in sight besides stadium vendors. At Fenway, you walk out of the park and into the city...lots to do, plenty of bars to pop into, traffic, taxis, pedestrians, cops, homeless people, stores, and you feel safe to walk around. You just can't beat it.
