good at bats?

if there is an atbat where he makes an out (or counts for an 0fer), one of three things must happen. the out results in a run scored, there is an error involved allowing him to get on base, or lastly, giambi fouls off 10 pitches on a 3-2 count so he wears out the pitcher for the next guy.

somehow i doubt the stiff did that?

Grade Little somehow manages to astonish me with his stupidity at least once every 2-3 games. There was no excuse for the Red Sox to lose the final games of the series against the Cardinals.

You have the bases loaded, only one out, and you allow Trot Nixon to bat against the lefty? Man, what a moron. Tony La Russa knows Nixon is hitting about .200 versus lefties. He's looking for the strikeout. Meanwhile, you have a player currently on the bench who's been on fire of late, and has hit .323 against LHP this season.

How the hell do you leave David Ortiz on the bench? And when a deep fly ball will win the game? When your current player at bat couldn't hit a left-handed pitcher if his left testicle depended on it?

Un-freakin-believeable.

Of course, Ortiz would double off a lefty later in the game .. but the damage had already been done.

Mr. Gump needs to go.
