Theo has been on the phone all day trying to get a bat for the bench. Sports Radio says Giambi is probably gone as soon as he gets one.

Gabe Kapler is on the short list.

I believe he's with the Rox right now. I guess he might be. :notme:

They said Theo's talking to them.

Kapler is with the Rox.

I can't figure out why the Sox got Jeremy in the first place. He can't hit his way out of a paper bag, and his D makes Jason look like a Gold Glover. :umm

They got him because Theo is an OBP geek. Unfortunately he SUCKS at everything this year.

Kapler got sent down to AAA because of bat problems.... Didnt know how to use it..... Has good speed but no power for a guy his size he should be killing the ball...

Giambi's numbers were pretty impressive the last few seasons. Not only did he get on base at an above average rate, but he also displayed pretty decent power.

Unfortunately, he's seemed to have contracted Tony Clark's disease.

I've seen enough.

Speaking of Tony Clark, he seems best off the bench. He's had some VERY clutch hits for us this year. Even though overall, when he's been a starter for a couple of days in a row, he's been pretty bad offensively. He's being used mostly as a bench guy or as a late-inning defensive replacement for Jason Phillips, a rookie catcher who has been playing a decent 1B since Piazza went down.

Have we ever had a good first baseman? Well Mo wasnt too bad, in his prime. But its been down hill since. And to see the numbers that Bagwell has since he departed from the Sox, is just scarey. Ortiz has been pretty hot lately, so maybe things are ok for now.
