View Full Version : The Skanks Wussing Out??
What was up with the rainout last nite? Was it down pouring in NYC?? Sport Center said it was cuz they didnt want Weaver on the mound against the Mets. Yeah Weaver's been sucking it lately (3-6, ERA 5.77), but its the Mets....(sorry Jules). The Mets are in last place.

You know, it's amazing that with ALL the frickin rain here in the east, the Sox have not really had any rainouts (one, maybe??).
Thats true...but I kinda noticed that most of the rain is just during the day. And most of our games through the week are night games. So maybe its just our luck. :notme:
To be honest guys, if the Devil Rays can smack Weaver about, anyone can, and that includes the Mets. I don't know if we wussed out as such, but things have certainly turned to our advantage.

OK guys. Here's the skinny, from a New Yorker.
As one of the Mets announcers put it, the Yankee game was "sprinkled out." Why "sprinkled" you ask? Because I was home all day yesterday and can attest that IT DID NOT RAIN YESTERDAY AFTERNOON. I live only a few miles south of the Bedpan, you can see it from some of the high-rise buildings in my neighborhood. It did not rain at the Westchester Classic, which is a few miles north of the Bedpan. I repeat -- IT DID NOT RAIN IN NYC YESTERDAY.
Clemens pitched in far worse conditions last week, and at night too.
All the local media (even the pro-Yankee guys) were laughing because George is scared of the lowly Mets. Even Peter "Mr. Yankee" Gammons thought what George did was disgusting and that perhaps the rules regarding game-calling would have to be changed to take the responsibility from the club and put it on the umpires.
Everyone, yes EVERYONE, knows he did it intentionally. As Lupica put it in this column (http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/baseball/story/93989p-85259c.html) The only way Torre is back next season is if the Yankees win the World Series. That was clear after last season, it was clear in the winter, it was clear in the spring, it is clear now, as the baseball summer begins with a Mets-Yankees series this weekend, one that has Steinbrenner so nuts that he rained out yesterday's Yankees-Devil Rays game for no good reason, except for this reason:
To set up a rotation where Weaver didn't get to pitch against the Mets. A cheap, bush-league move. Does this surprise ANYONE?? I certainly hope not.
What an a-hole George is. It's truly pathetic that Mr. I-own-the-greatest-team-in-sports-history would screw around with his rotation because of the lowly New York Mets.
Absolutely pathetic.

The rumor in Boston is, they called the game because their bullpen was spent and they wanted it to get a day of rest.

George is a dick. A VERY small one, but a dick nonetheless.
People have said that my Yankee-hatred is overkill, and then I get to thinking that maybe they're right.
But then George pulls a stunt like this, and proves me right.

I'm really upset about this.
This is yet another example of George getting what he wants.
