After Benson abandoned the team once again, and after the bullpen threw eight or nine innings Friday night, you have to figure there's not a whole lot of arms left ... perhaps D'Amico could come in if needed in relief, since there's an off day tomorrow and he'll be on six or seven days rest if he doesn't pitch today.

Vogelsong needs at least six innings today IMO.

Reportedly, Vogelsong was sent back to Nashville after the game. another pitcher will be recalled before Monday's game with Montreal.

I've heard that too. It makes me wonder if this was more of a courtesy start, considering Vogelsong was led to believe he was going to start a few weeks back.

Who do you think will be called up, Rick? I'm thinking Mike Lincoln, and I wouldn't be surprised if Figueroa was called up.

I heard they recalled Sanchez. They obviously believe that Lincoln needs some more innings. As soon as they feel he is ready, I'm sure he will be here. As for Figueroa, he just pitched today so he wasn't an option and also he is not on the 40 man roster so the Pirates would have to put somebody on waivers or on the 60 day dl to add him.

Sanchez doesn't surprise me one bit. If it's true Sanchez was recalled, to me, that means one thing ... Williams is on the block and maybe even ready to be moved. The one thing that kind of made me not mention him is he didn't have either a good K/BB ratio or K/9 IP.

Doesn't Lincoln have to be called up within a month from when he was activated, or doesn't that apply since he was on the 60-day DL?

I believe you are correct, 30 days for a pitcher and 20 for a position player.:D

Next (and hopefully last) question for the technicality guru ... do you know when Lincoln was removed from the DL?

Actually, he is still on the dl. He is on a "rehab" assignment. At the end of a maximum of 30 days (I don't know for sure when the rehab started) the Pirates have to keep him on the dl (they can't use a 2nd rehab), recall him or try to send him to Nashville. That 3rd choice would be a mistake since he has no options left. Somebody would certainly take him.
