CLEVELAND (AP) -- The Cleveland Indians traded outfielder Karim Garcia and pitcher Dan Miceli to the New York Yankees on Wednesday for a player to be named.

Garcia, who was just activated from the 15-day disabled list because of a wrist injury, was with the Yankees last season after being released by the Indians before spring training.

The 27-year-old was batting .194 with five homers and 14 RBIs in 24 games. He sprained his wrist early in the season, but continued playing before going on the DL May 8.

Miceli was signed by the Indians on May 15 after being released by the Colorado Rockies. In 13 games with the Indians, the right-hander went 1-1 with a 1.20 ERA.

We are SO winning the pennant now! :dance2: ;)

Seriously now, what does this trade accomplish? :umm I'm guessing Garcia replaces Gipson the Pickoff King and Miceli replaces Reyes, but its not like they're significant upgrades :notme:.

I wonder who that PTBNL is...http://forums.nyyfans.com/images/smilies/erm-ah.gif

I dont see why they need Karim Garcia but Miceli did pretty good the other day.... I was hoping that they would find a good pitcher to replace Clemens next year.

Garcia replaced Gipson as our pinch runner, since Gipson got picked off almost every time he was in the game.

I agree that Miceli's looked pretty good so far :)

As for replacing Clemens, Mussina will replace him as Ace of the staff and Lieber will (hopefully) take up his spot. I doubt we're gonna trade for some other Ace anytime soon...
